How the Arizona Republic bought SunPro building materials
A former SunPro executive has been sentenced to six months in jail for allegedly selling the company’s building material to a bankruptcy-like company called SunPro Liquidators.
The Arizona Republic newspaper reported Wednesday that Marvins Construction, which built the SunPro towers in Phoenix, was purchased by SunPro in September 2017, the day before Marvin was sentenced to prison.
The company was liquidated by bankruptcy court in September of 2018.
The Republic’s article said the transaction involved two different companies.
SunPro told the paper that Marvens Construction has filed for bankruptcy and that Maravins Construction has not filed for insolvency.
SunPro filed for Chapter 11 protection in January 2019.
It was awarded a $2.4 billion settlement with the federal government in July 2020, but it has yet to file for bankruptcy.
