New Jersey police arrest man in domestic violence case
By DAVID SANDERS Associated PressNEW JERSEY (AP) — New Jersey State Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a domestic violence incident in the state’s northeastern corner.
State Police say the 34-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
State police say they are still investigating.
State investigators say a 27-year old woman reported her husband had hit her and her then-boyfriend several times with a hammer in an apartment.
The woman’s daughter lives in the apartment.
A neighbor told authorities that she was in the home when she heard banging and the sound of glass breaking.
She also saw a woman get out of a vehicle with blood on her face.
Police say the woman told them that she got a call from her father telling her that her husband has beaten up his wife and the girl.
State troopers say the man was arrested after they got a tip from a family member.
He is being held on $25,000 bail.
Police did not immediately say if the man has an attorney.
