Raiders could be looking for a new football coach after season
Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio could be searching for a replacement for Tom Cable.
A source with knowledge of the search told ESPN.com that Del Rio is “looking for a head coaching position.”
According to the source, Del Rio has been searching for the Raiders head coaching job for the past two years and that the search for a permanent replacement will likely be led by former NFL player and current NFL Network analyst Joe Banner.
Del Rio has a record of 3-10 in his first season at the helm, with six wins and six losses.
The Raiders finished 7-9 last season and were without running back Marshawn Lynch, who has been battling an ACL tear.
The Raiders had one of the worst defenses in football last season, allowing an average of 19.1 points per game and ranking 28th in the league in total defense.
The team also had one player who has missed time with an ACL injury, wide receiver Amari Cooper.
Delio will enter his 16th season as a head coach.
He has won two Super Bowl titles, three Super Bowl MVPs and two playoff berths with the Raiders.
